Every public school in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody and North Burnaby, with the programs each one runs and the two official locators that give the catchment answer for any address. Two districts cover the four areas: School District 43 for the Tri-Cities and School District 41 for Burnaby.
For most families I work with, the school question comes before the house question. This page is the reference I use with them: which school runs which program, how the two districts differ, and what a catchment does and doesn’t guarantee when you buy.
Two things worth knowing before you buy on a school’s reputation: capacity changes year to year, and principals tend to move about every five years — a school’s culture moves with them. Ask me what a school is like now, not what it was like five years ago.
A listing is not the official answer. The district is. Both districts use the same locator tool, and each returns the catchment schools for a home address.

Catchment lines don’t always follow common sense. One side of a street can feed a different school from the other, and a home listed as “near” a school may not be in its catchment. Before a client commits to a home for a school, I do four things.
If a particular school is the reason you’re looking at a street, tell me before we book showings. It changes which homes are worth seeing.
Coquitlam is School District 43, which runs a K–5, 6–8, 9–12 structure. Catchments go by your permanent home address — and the official answer for any address comes from the district’s own locator, not from a listing. For neighbourhoods, prices and parks, see the Coquitlam real estate guide.

North Burnaby is School District 41, not the Tri-Cities’ SD43 — a K–7 then 8–12 structure with no middle school step. AP courses run at every Burnaby secondary; the AP Capstone diploma is at Burnaby North. Its catchments have their own locator, which happens to be the same tool SD43 uses. For neighbourhoods and prices, see the North Burnaby real estate guide.

Use the School District 43 School Locator. Enter the home address and it returns the elementary, middle and secondary catchment schools. It is the official answer and takes priority over anything on a listing.
Use the School District 41 School Locator, which returns the elementary and secondary school for any Burnaby address.
No. A catchment gives priority, not a guaranteed seat. Many schools in both districts are at capacity, and boundaries change. Confirm capacity with the school or district before you rely on it.
I don’t rank schools, because the answer depends on the child and the program. The two that Tri-Cities parents ask me for by name are Dr. Charles Best in Coquitlam and Heritage Woods in Port Moody, and both are public schools. Ask me what a school is like now, not what it was like five years ago.
Early French Immersion starts at ten elementary schools: Nestor, Panorama Heights, Porter Street and Rochester in Coquitlam, Coquitlam River, Irvine, Kilmer, Mary Hill and Westwood in Port Coquitlam, and Glenayre in Port Moody. It continues at Banting, Maillard, Maple Creek, Kwayhquitlum and Pitt River middle schools, and through Grade 12 at Dr. Charles Best and Riverside. Late French Immersion is at Montgomery, Citadel and Moody Middle.
Baker Drive, Hampton Park, Harbour View and Miller Park Community in Coquitlam, James Park in Port Coquitlam, and Aspenwood and Seaview Community in Port Moody, continuing at Montgomery and Scott Creek middle schools.
Port Moody Secondary runs School District 43’s IB Diploma programme.
Programs of Choice are applied for in January and placed by random draw. Cross-catchment transfers are a separate process in February. Confirm this year’s dates with the district.
School District 41 uses a two-level structure: elementary from Kindergarten to Grade 7, then secondary from Grade 8 to 12. School District 43 uses three levels, with middle school for Grades 6 to 8.
They are part of School District 43. Anmore Elementary and Eagle Mountain Middle are both in Anmore, and students continue to secondary school in Port Moody. Check the exact address in the SD43 locator.
Yes. Tell me the school and the grade that matters, and I’ll narrow the search to streets inside that catchment and walk you through the boundary before you fall in love with a house.
I walk buyers through the catchment map street by street before they fall in love with a house. Tell me the address and the school that matters, and I’ll tell you what I know.
